5-Day Morocco Desert Tour from Marrakech

We start our private 5 days Morocco desert tour from Marrakech by picking you up from your hotel, riad, airport, or any meeting point in Marrakech. We leave the red city and travel through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2260 meters. Along the way, we enjoy beautiful mountain views, Berber villages, valleys, and panoramic photo stops.nnWe continue to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most beautiful fortified villages in Morocco. This kasbah is one of the main highlights of many Morocco desert tours and has been used as a filming location for many international movies.nnAfter visiting Ait Ben Haddou, we continue through Ouarzazate and the road of kasbahs towards Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight will be in a local hotel or riad in Dades Valley.

After breakfast, our Marrakech desert tour continues from Dades Valley towards Todra Gorge, one of the most impressive canyons in Morocco. We will stop to walk inside the high cliffs and enjoy the beautiful views of the gorge, palm groves, and surrounding mountains.nnAfter visiting Todra Gorge, we continue through Tinghir, Erfoud, and several Berber villages before reaching Merzouga, located near the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Along the way, you will enjoy desert landscapes, palm groves, and authentic southern Moroccan villages.nnIn Merzouga, you will ride camels across the Sahara sand dunes and enjoy a magical sunset over Erg Chebbi. After reaching the desert camp, you will enjoy dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and a peaceful overnight stay under the desert sky.

Today is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga Sahara Desert and the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, we start a desert discovery tour around Merzouga by 4x4 vehicle.nnWe may visit nomad families living near the dunes and learn about their traditional desert lifestyle. Then we continue to Khamlia village, famous for Gnawa music, where you can enjoy local music and discover an important part of Moroccan desert culture.nnThe day may also include a visit to a desert oasis, black volcanic landscapes, small Berber villages, panoramic viewpoints of the dunes, and desert tracks around Erg Chebbi. Dinner and overnight will be in Merzouga, either in a desert camp or a local hotel near the dunes.

Early in the morning, we recommend waking up to watch the sunrise over the dunes of Merzouga. After breakfast, we leave the Sahara Desert and travel towards Ouarzazate through the beautiful landscapes of southern Morocco.nnWe drive through Alnif and Nkob, passing desert roads, Berber villages, palm groves, and mountain views. The journey continues through the beautiful Draa Valley, one of the longest valleys in Morocco and famous for its palm trees, ancient kasbahs, traditional villages, and oasis landscapes.nnIn the afternoon, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as the gate of the Sahara Desert and the cinema city of Morocco. Dinner and overnight will be in a local riad or hotel in Ouarzazate.

After breakfast, we leave Ouarzazate and start the journey back to Marrakech. Depending on time, we may stop for photos in Ouarzazate or enjoy more views of the surrounding kasbahs and desert landscapes.nnWe continue through the High Atlas Mountains and cross the famous Tizi n'Tichka pass again, enjoying panoramic mountain views, traditional Berber villages, and beautiful valleys along the way.nnIn the afternoon or evening, we arrive in Marrakech.
